Running/Walking - You Can Fundraise as a Team

Running, walking and fundraising as a team is a great way to enjoy the 2013 Run-Walk to Home Base Presented by New Balance with friends, family, and coworkers. Forming a team encourages fun competition among businesses, civic groups, schools, and clubs. For corporate teams, this can also be a great way to display company spirit. Team members can host group fundraisers to generate donations. On race day, running/walking together can also make the event even more enjoyable.

Please note that regardless of the amount your team raises, each adult (age 14 and over) team member is required to raise a minimum of $1,000. Children under 14 may participate in the Walk only for $125. For the team fundraising records posted on the Top Fundraisers page, the sum of each individual team member’s fundraising will be added together to calculate the overall total team record. Donors wishing to donate to a specific team must select an individual member on the team to receive the funds. Donors can donate to multiple team members, but in that case each donation must be a separate transaction. Donors cannot make a general donation to the team since donations cannot be automatically distributed evenly amongst the team members.

It’s easy to create or join a team! Simply register as a runner, a walker or a virtual runner. Once you have registered, you have the option to create or join a team. Teams can consist of runners, walkers and virtual runners. Only physical runners or walkers must raise the minimum $1,000 to enter the race, with children under 14 participating in the walk only for $125. Due to safety issues, no children under 14 may participate in the Run.

There are two kinds of teams

  • Public Teams: Open to anyone who wishes to join the team. Each runner/walker must raise their $1,000 requirement.

  • Private Teams: Open only to invited participants who are approved by team captains (open for example, a company team that wishes to only include employees). All race participants still must meet the $1,000 per participant requirement.
