Introducing the inaugural Run to Home Base 9K

Run across home plate
Ever dreamed about running across home plate at Fenway Park as the crowd cheers you on? Want to be a part of a first-of-its-kind fundraising event that will help provide much needed services to local veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan?

Well, do we have the race for you!
The Run to Home Base is a unique 9K fundraising run through scenic Boston ending with a once-in-a-lifetime experience of finishing the race by literally crossing home plate at historic Fenway Park. Friends and family can watch you from the stands at Fenway, with food, entertainment and fun family activities available in the concourses of America’s Most Beloved Ballpark.

A run to honor our nation's heroic veterans
The run will honor our nation’s heroic veterans and help raise much needed funds for the new Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program. This outreach will serve the many veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injury and their families.

You can be an MVP on the home base team.  Here's how...

New England’s veterans served us.  Now it’s time to serve them. We hope you can join us for the 2010 Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Run to Home Base 9K!

Raising money for combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injury
is the core mission of the Run to Home Base 9K. The Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program is a new philanthropic partnership focused on veterans returning from service in Afghanistan and Iraq with combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injuries. This program includes four components: confidential clinical care, outreach to veteran's families who are affected by these "signature wounds" of war, innovative research and educational programs for health providers, clergy, social workers and others. Recent studies suggest that as many as one third of servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq may be affected by combat stress disorders and/or traumatic brain injury. Our mission is to help these veterans obtain the care they need and deserve. Funds raised by and through the Run to Home Base will be used to support the Home Base Program.
